Add GDPR Cookie Consent Bar To WordPress

You can add gdpr cookie consent bar to your WordPress blog to easily inform users that your site uses cookies and to comply with the EU GDPR regulations.

By clicking the “accept” button that displays on the bar, your blog visitors can give permission for the storage and handling of their data by your website.

I’ve added a cookie notice bar to my blog and it displays at the bottom of the screen.

The bar displays an “accept” button and “view settings” link. Users that click the “view settings” link can access their personal settings to give or deny permission to individual Consents. Once their settings are saved or when they click the “accept” button, the bar disappears for 365 days.

If you would like to add similar gpdr compliant cookies consent bar to your WordPress site, you will have to install WP GDPR Compliance plugin. The plugin also makes wordpress comment form to be GDPR compliant.

 

 

How To Use WP GDPR Compliance Plugin To Display Consent Bar On WordPress

After installation, activate the plugin and navigate to “tools” > “WP GDPR Compliance”

Click on “Consents” tab and click “Add New”

 

 

Tick “Yes” for the “Active” option

Enter “Advertising” as “Title”. You can enter anything else here though.

In “description”, you can enter “We use Google Analytics cookies to track our website performance and to fine-tune the information we provide.”

You can ignore other options or fill them as required.

Click “Update”

That’s all.

View your blog an you should see the cookies consent bar at the bootm of the screen.

You can make some changes to the consent notice via the “Settings” Page.

For example, via the page, I linked to the “Privacy Policy” page on my blog and inserted it’s link in the consent modal explanation as seen in the screenshot below :

WordPress GDPR Compliance Plugin That I Use

I’ve finally installed a WordPress GDPR plugin on my blog, thereby making the blog to comply with European privacy regulations known as GDPR, failure of which can result to large fines.

 

I’ve been able to add GDPR consent bar to the blog, by making use of the plugin. The name of the plugin is : “WP GDPR Compliance”

The plugin also makes the WordPress comments form and Contact form 7 forms on my blog to comply with GDPR by simply adding a checkbox for consent to the forms.

It also supports Gravity Forms (>= 1.9) and WooCommerce (>= 2.5.0). So, if you are in need of a wordpress comments gdpr compliance plugin, you can give it a try.

The plugin can also generate a private page which users can use to request for their data stored in the WordPress database (comments, WooCommerce orders etc.). Data found is send to their email address and allows them to put in an additional request to have the data anonymised.

There is also a “checklist” page where the plugin will ask you what private data you currently collect and provide you with tips to comply.

 

In summary, WP GDPR Compliance helps you as a site owner take care of:

• Keeping a consent log for supported plugins.
• Adding checkboxes to supported plugins for explicit visitor consent.

FRSC Physical Screening Requirements and What To Expect

The FRSC physical screening for applicants for the 2018 Federal Road Safety Commission Recruitment is ongoing at all the states in Nigeria. So, in this post, I want to share with you, the FRSC recruitment screening requirements and what to expect in the FRSC physical screening exercise.

The FRSC job screening exercise commenced on September 24 2018, to end on September 29, 2018 with about 324,000 applicants nationwide competing for the 4,000 job spaces in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The FRSC screening time table pdf contains the list of the frsc 2018 screening venues in all states in Nigeria and the frsc screening dates for officer, MI, RMA cadres job vacancies.

Applicants for the FRSC jobs would go through different levels of screening exercise ranging from credentials verification which has commenced, aptitude test to be conducted by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), interview screening and drug test. Applicants that successfully pass all the stages will then be employed to join the Nigeria Federal Road Safety Commission and start earning monthly FRSC salary.

 

FRSC Screening Requirement for 2018 Recruitment Exercise

All applicants who applied to FRSC for recruitment into the different cadres are required to check their emails for frsc screening email notification. Applicants who do not receive any information through their emails before the date of the exercise are also advised to report to the screening centres chosen in their application forms with the printed frsc summary data page.

In addition, all applicants, irrespective of Cadre applied for, are to go to the frsc screening venue along with the following: originals of their credentials (for sighting), 2 sets of photocopies of credentials, medical certificate of fitness, and 2 passport sized photographs. You might need more than 2 passport photos though.

Applicants are to also note, for the avoidance of doubt, that they are to appear in white shorts, white round neck T-shirt, canvass and socks for the screening and physical fitness exercise.

 

 

What To Expect In FRSC Screening Exercise

You will be required to submit photocopies of your credentials.

You will be required to show the original copies of your credentials for vetting. NYSC discharge certificate is VERY important while FSLC/testimonal not that important. Your certificate of birth is very important too. If you are presenting declaration of age certificate especially if done recently, it will raise eyebrow.

The FRSC officers that will screen you physically will check if you are of the expected height, not pregnant, not married and check if you don’t have bow and K’ legs. Applicants with tattoos, bow and K’ legs, married women and pregnant women would be disqualified from its ongoing screening because as a uniform personel you are required to stand, walk and run long distance in case of emergence. If your wedding ring has left mark on your finger, you are on your own o.

You will also be required to run a short distance and complete the distance within let’s say 25 minutes. If you fail to complete the distance within that period, you will be disqualified.

 

 

If you pass the FRSC physical screening, you will be informed to keep checking your email for info for the next step.

Trader Moni Boi Project Launched in Owerri, Imo State

Trader Moni BOI project was launched on Saturday at relief market, Owerri, Imo state by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during which he restated the federal government’s commitment to boosting the nation’s economy and empowering traders.

He met with some petty traders at the Relief Market in Owerri as he kickstarted the N10,000 no-interest loans.

According to him, the Trader Moni boi project was meant to get resources in the hands of Nigerians and also empower them.

In addition, he assured that the Trader Money loan by the federal government is free for all and devoid of political or ethnic affiliations.

The micro-credit scheme under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), was first inaugurated on Aug. 7 in five markets in Lagos State – Mushin, Ikotun, Agege, Ketu and Abule Egba areas.

How To Use Tweeten Twitter Client

In this post, I want to quickly share with you some basic tips on how to use Tweeten app. I use it on my Microsoft Surface Laptop and it’s cool. I even prefer it to the Twitter for Windows 10 app.

So, What is Tweeten App?

Tweeten is a third-party Twitter client column-based interface that helps you keep track of everything that’s happening on Twitter without needing to hit the refresh button. You can keep track of your Twitter Lists, Activity, Notifications, Direct Messages, and a lot more!

It offers an intuitive and powerful Twitter experience on Windows and Mac. The app has been completely rewritten from the ground up, which means it is faster, more stable, and prettier than the original Tweeten. There’s a ton of improvements in the new Tweeten that makes sure your tweeting experience doesn’t get disrupted, ever.

To get started with Tweeten, you have to download it to your device. You can download Tweeten for Windows 10 or Mac via tweetenapp.com. Right there, you can also get the download link for the Tweeten Chrome extension.

After installation, sign in with your Twitter account to get started!

Once you are signed in, you will see the Tweeten dashboard with the default columns.

You can re-arrange the columns by dragging the tabs on the left sidebar as seen in the screenshot below. You can also add new columns to display tweets related to a keyword, tweets from a twitter user etc

When composing tweets with Tweeten, you can easily insert emoji and Gifs – and you can easily schedule tweets too as highlighted in the screenshot above.

When you click the “add a gif” button, you will see where you can search for GIFs as seen below :

 

If you click the three dots in the header of each column, you can filter the tweets content.

 

 

Don’t like politics? Or sports? You can mute any hashtag, account, or an entire app on Tweeten. Just navigate to “settings” > “filters”, and filter any word, phrase, or app.

 

 

Can Tweeten Add Second Account ?

Well, I am currently unable to add second account to my Tweeten app.

Seems there were some changes in Twitter API that forced the Tweeten app developer to remove the feature.

It was actually possible before now as seen in the screenshot below :

 

 

Nevertheless, you can invite colleagues to use Twitter as your username without sharing your passwords with them.

How To Use Team Feature on Tweeten App

With Tweeten app, multiple people can share a Twitter account without having to share the password.

To get started, navigate to “Account” > “Manage Team”.

Enter the username you want to add and click the + icon.

Thereafter, you can change the role of the user, if you want to. You can check out more info on Twitter user roles.

Once the user accepts the invitattion, the user can take action on behalf of the team account (Tweet, Retweet, Direct Message, like, etc.), schedule Tweets, create lists, and build collections.

The popular third-party Twitter client Tweeten is available for free download for Windows 10 PCs at the Microsoft Store. I’ve successfully installed it on my Microsoft Surface Laptop.

Tweeten is based on TweetDeck which means it offers a powerful, column-based interface that helps you keep track of everything that’s happening on Twitter without needing to hit the refresh button.

You can keep track of your Twitter Lists, Activity, Notifications, Direct Messages, and a lot more! Tweeten also includes a powerful Search feature which lets you keep track of a specific topic. If that wasn’t enough, you can also schedule tweets using Tweeten.

Tweeten app for Windows 10 also supports teams feature which allows multiple people to share a Twitter account without having to share the password.

 

Tweeten is full of customization options. Want to change the column size? Sure. Want square profile pictures? Sure. Want a larger font? Sure.

And what about the fun stuff? Well, Tweeten also includes GIF Search and the ability to Save GIFs! There is also emoji picker that lets you tweet the perfect emoji at the right time. From the 🤷 emoji to the 💯 emoji, all the emojis you 😍 are right there.

There are lots of goodies in Tweeten, so go ahead and download it to experience it yourself.

If you don’t want a desktop app, Tweeten is available as an extension for Google Chrome as well.

FRSC Screening Timetable, Date and Venues List for Shortlisted Applicants for 2018 Recruitment

The 2018 FRSC recruitment screening timetable has finally been released by the Federal Road Safety Commission. The link to the pdf was included in the invitation email that was sent to a friend who I helped to apply and print the FRSC summary data page. The email was sent from noreply@frsc gov.ng.

The pdf contains the list of venues for the frsc screening exercise in all states in Nigeria and the date of physical screening for officer, MI, RMA cadres. The screening starts by 6am according to the info in the invitation email.

For 2018 FRSC shortlisted candidates in benue state, the physical screening will take place at Nigeria Air Force Base, Makurdi starting from 24th of september to 28th of september, 2018.

For shortlisted candidates in Abuja, the physical screening will take place at the National stadium Abuja and Magadisu Cantonment, Abuja starting from 24th of september to 28th of september, 2018.

For FRSC shortlisted candidates in Lagos state, the 2018 screening will take place at the NAF Base Agege motor road Ikeja and at 9 Brigade command Ikeja cantonment., same date as above.

For shortlisted candidates in Rivers state, the FRSC screening exercise will take place at 6 DIVISION HEADQUARTERS, BORRY CAMP, NIGERIAN ARMY.

How To Print FRSC Summary Data Page

If you can’t access the FRSC recruitment login page, you can try and open your browser and go through the browser history, you will see the link that leads directly to the summary page. But, this will only work on the phone or computer you used for the registration if you haven’t cleared your browser history.

View Windows 10 Disk Usage With Inbuilt Storage Tool

The Windows 10 storage tool simply makes it easy for me to view hard disk usage on my Microsoft surface laptop. It’s a decent disk space analyzer that helps me easily find the junk I can get rid of.

It shows a list of types of files, how much space each category is taking up, and a list of folders sorted by how large their contents are. It’s not quite as powerful as some third party disk space analyzers for PC, but it’s handy enough that many users might not need anything more.

To access it, head to Start > Settings or use the the combination of “WinKey and I”.

Locate “System” and click it.

Find “Storage” in the left flank of System Settings and click on it.

Select the drive you wish to see detail for.

The storage usage, broken down into a set of storage categories will be displayed.

The Storage tool displays disk usage in the following categories:

System & Reserved
Temporary Files
Apps & Games
Videos
Documents
Other
Mail
Desktop
Pictures
Music
OneDrive
Maps
Other People

When you click the categories, you’ll find more details and some controls. For instance, when you click System & Reserved, you’ll see four sections showing the amount of space taken up by various system components, including the hibernation file and system restore.

When you select the Temporary Files category you’ll see the Remove Temporary Files page where you can remove temporary files, clean out the Downloads folder, empty the Recycle Bin, and remove a previous version of Windows.

If you select Apps & Games, you see all the apps and desktop applications you have installed in Windows 10. Adjacent to each application, you’ll find the amount of space that app is using and when it was installed. Clicking an app icon reveals an Uninstall button.

The Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, OneDrive, and Desktop categories aren’t all that useful, as they simply allow you to open the respective folders in File Explorer and view those files.

Windows key + h Takes Screenshot On Windows 10 Microsoft Surface Laptop

I use windows key + h shortcut to take screenshots on my Microsoft surface laptop as alternative to snipping tool and third party apps : ShareX and Skitch which I’ve installed on the Windows 10 Pro PC.

After pressing the combination Windows + H keys on the keyboard, I access the screenshot by launching the Screen Sketch app which is accessible by clicking the Windows ink workspace icon in the taskbar.

Right inside the Screen Sketch app, I can annotate and share!

I can share the screenshot on my Windows 10 PC to Mail, OneNote and social networks (Facebook, Twitter etc). Kindly note that you will see the Facebook, Twitter options only if you’ve installed their apps from the the Microsoft store.

 

 

Combination of WIN key + Shift + S will bring up a snipping toolbar which you can use to snip a rectangle, something a bit more freeform, or full screen and it will go straight to your clipboard and also accessible via the Screen Sketch app.

As at the time of publishing this post, my Screen Sketch app is still bundled with the Windows Ink feature of my Microsoft Surface Laptop Windows 10 Pro but available for download in the Microsoft store as a separate app for Windows 10 version 17636.0 or higher.

Note

The screenshots that you take from pressing Win and H keys are piled up in %temp% folder. So, the best suggestion is to clear out the items of %temp% folder and keep your computer clean. Clearing out the screenshots will eventually make some space on the hard drive.

Download Twitter for PC Windows 10

You can download Twitter for PC windows 10 from the Microsoft store.

I’ve installed it on my Microsoft surface laptop and it’s working perfectly.

Although it doesn’t support multiple accounts as at the time of publishing this post, it supports features that people on Twitter love, including longer Tweets, the Explore tab to find topics relevant to your interests, and the ability to bookmark Tweets to be read later.  There are also additional features like the “night mode” and “data saver”.

The new app also supports unique Windows features, including a refreshed look and feel with taskbar pinning, push notifications in Action Center, and share integration with Windows apps. Additional features like night mode are coming soon.

It is not possible to toggle between multiple accounts. To log in to a different Twitter account you must log out of the account you are currently logged in to, then log back in to the desired account.
